Every day is Halloween, but this month is Halloween officially. So with that said, and a whole month to go. What better time to assemble a community playlist again.

  • Songs should fit relevant genera as best as possible
  • Ideally they should relate to Halloween or related themes
  • Keep posts short and concise.3-4 suggestions per post along with why you think each one fits

Ministry - Every Day is Halloween
Because of course. How could we not start with this new version of the classic released just this year.

Creature Feature -Buried Alive!
Between the band name and the track name. How could it not fit. For those not familiar with Creature Feature, yeah basically I could just post their albums and largely call the playlist done. With tracks like Dem Bones, Aim For the Head, Here There Be Witches, or The Greatest Show Unearthed.

Zombina and the Skeletones - Nobody Likes You When You’re Dead
Zombies, skeletons, undeead. Need I say more? This small goth pop punk outfit from the UK could easily fill a playlist themselves. Punk Rock Vampires Destroy, Dracula Blood, Don’t Go Into The Light, Brain Dead, or Zombie Hop could all qualify and may get suggested later.

I could go on for a few hours. But I’m going to end here for now, to see what others add. :)

    oh wow this sounds fun… let’s see…

    • Joy Division " Dead Souls " - yeah it’s a metaphor, but he’s literally talking about being haunted in his dreams… plus a cover of this song (by Trent!) was in The Crow…
    • Tétrica - Brujería - it’s Spanish for “Witchcraft”… plus the video has clips from “Monster High” lel…
    • She Past Away - La Maldad - another song in Spanish even though they’re from Turkiye… I reckon it’s bc they live in Barcelona? but why wouldn’t they do it in Catalan? I dunno… anyway the title means “The Evil” see translated lyrics.
    • Desenterradas - Ciudad Prohibida - aw wat the hell I might as well go for 3 songs in Spanish… this one’s kinda punky… is that wat death rock means? Anyway the title means “Forbidden City”, it’s about this haunted place where evil spirits live and the lyrics are like watch out or they’ll kill ya. ok next one’s in English I promise
oops I put one too many
    • Insane Clown Posse - Take It Out On Me - HA! I snuck some ICP in there… but check it out, the music’s kinda goth-y (apparently it samples the “unsolved mysteries” tv show) and the song’s about a haunting but it’s also kinda about abusive relationships I really feel it fr.

oh wait a max of 4? OK I’ll hide one of em, only look at it if you wanna be transgressive…

That opening drum and guitar on Dead Souls is iconic. Definitely a fitting pick. She Passed Away has been an absolute favorite for years. Wasn’t aware they were out there in Barcelona along with New Wave Kill IIRC. But definitely digging the Spanish flavor of your picks. How bout a couple more to keep it rolling

      La Bande-son Imaginaire - Macabre
It’s macabre after all. And with those sinister strings how could it not be appropriate for Halloween or dia de los muertos.

Prismatic Shapes - El Rey De La Noche

Giles Corey - The Haunting Presence

      wow man that’s killer

Nine Inch Nails - Came Back Haunted

one of the best songs on the album (along with Copy of a)

Some good picks. Damn hadn’t thought about zombie girl in some time. Was kind of hoping when she got things back together for that release in 2015 we might get another album or two. But it’s been another 10 years =/

I have a Samhain playlist so I picked a few of those. Zombie Girl blew my mind when she released her album around 2006.

Samhain is 100% applicable. Absolutely a core influence for the festival, that became Halloween. And literally the day after. Know what? Give me a moment. I think I’m gonna make an edit.

It may or may not be as well known due to how commercial and widely saturated Halloween has been. With the proliferation of Hollywood media. But recognition and celebration for it would be fun/awesome. Like how everyone hasn’t had the pleasure of a mari lywd at their door. Definitely something worth changing.

It’s been roughly 24 hours, kinda. So back for a few more

Oingo Boingo - Dead Man’s Party

In the vein of my first pick yesterday. This is one of those unquestionable pillars of the goth, Halloween, Burton/Elfman triad. Whose absence would question the credibility of a playlist like this.

Koffin Kats - It happens every night

Got koffin right in the name. And when every day is Halloween. Of course it’s gonna happen every night. It was between this and Graveyard Tree. But I just love the energy and the swing of this. And with that, we have the first psychobilly on the board.

Horrorpops - Walk Like a Zombie

And you want a mountaintop with a little castle
And you wanna name our kids Morticia and Fester
And all the flowers you bring are always dead
And you howl at the moon, but I don’t care
