This again, isn’t the first time I’ve mentioned this ; given the severity of the activity, and the evidence I’ve provided, why hasn’t there been any action
I had no idea what this was but was clicking through your links. One of the people says they were asking for dick pictures trying to bait predators.
The first person listed themselves as a couch fucker.
It really doesn’t seem like a place you should hang out.
“This again, isn’t the first time I’ve mentioned this ; given the severity of the activity, and the evidence I’ve provided, why hasn’t there been any action”
Because, it’s not your website. The level of entitlement that you show by demanding someone tailor the website that they own to your preferences is ridiculous, the Dev can see your posts and chooses not to respond to you. IPs get banned here and there is a moderation system built on the website. This website is as liable as any other website with an anonymous chatroom or anonymous imageboard, 4chan is a good example.
You claimed in a previous post
“Internal moderation on this site is entirely absent and non-functional” ➡️ https://lemmy.world/post/49041435
Which makes no sense because people are reported and IP banned. Both are impossible if there is no moderation. Furthermore since all interactions are anonymous extensive account wide bans are impossible, only IP bans are possible. You want an account based website and this is not that.
Another user asks
Is there any resources I can run to stop being mass reported? ➡️ https://lemmy.world/post/48998802
Why are anonymous chatrooms littered throughout the internet in general? Why have they not been banned online in this long history of the internet? Anonymity on privately owned websites has a long history. The best protection against bad actors in a chatroom is simply to avoid chatrooms. There is also a flag button too, are any of you using it?
The bans are not IP made, switching conenections won’t let you evade the ban.
Switching connections absolutely allows you to evade bans If I have a network, where I get the tag 283S as an example, and reset or reuse another IP on the same device to get another tag, my messages would be entirely visible
No, it doesn’t, I tested.
It does, see my lower reply
Then either they updated the service or my phone has something on it.
The flag button exists. But the site is moderated by an AI that is… pretty bad at its function. It flags “Child S––(you know what)” but not “CSAM”.
OK. I’m aware of this How is this going to solve the risk of future distribution, and how is it going to actually get the bad actors to actual authorities
get the bad actors to actual authorities
It is impossible to report anonymous users to the authorities. Anonymity is a feature of Perchance. Users have to practice self responsibility in the generators they use and the chat.
“No User Accounts: Many anonymous sites eliminate data collection and user tracking. Without centralized databases of user emails, login histories, or IP logs, it is much harder for authorities or corporate entities to legally demand user information or build cases against the platform itself.” - Gemini AI
https://quantumitinnovation.com/blog/perchance-ai-character-generator-guide
Even if the developer doesn’t actively build a database of emails, the underlying server infrastructure inherently handles IP addresses, connection logs, and device fingerprints. Federal law enforcement agencies like the FBI and NCMEC do not need a username and password to track a criminal; they use subpoenas to demand raw server and CDN traffic logs.
- No website is truly “logless” unless the developer went out of their way to build a completely custom, untraceable server stack; which standard web hosts LITERALLY do not allow
Under federal laws like the FOSTA-SESTA legislation and strict federal criminal statutes, a platform cannot use “willful blindness” as a legal shield. If a developer builds a public chatroom, is formally notified that federal crimes are occurring on it, and responds with, “Well, I designed it so I don’t track anyone, so I guess I can’t help you,” a court will view that as a deliberate choice to facilitate illegal acts

It doesn’t matter if it isn’t, legal debates regarding the topic are irrelevant to ownership. The level of ignorance to consistently ignore the fact that this is arguably among the worst crimes globally; in the name of some sort of opposition to censorship, is ridiculous
I am really tired of having to circlejerk with you back to what I’ve previously says The automated AI system used for moderation, is both easily bypassable, requires consistent concentration, and is almost entirely absent when we need immediate action
Which makes no sense because people are reported and IP banned. Both are impossible if there is no moderation. Furthermore since all interactions are anonymous extensive account wide bans are impossible, only IP bans are possible. You want an account based website and this is not that.

They nearly always are if they host illegal materials, again, the site immediatly loses its 230 given that there is an insurmountable amount of moderation negligence; and the fact that said materials are being consistently spread
Blocking them, reporting them to an automated system which at minimum isn’t forwarded to law enforcement, and an easily bypassable system where users can merely reset their IP to redistribute materials; is a ludicrous solution
It doesn’t matter if it isn’t, legal debates regarding the topic are irrelevant to ownership. The level of ignorance to consistently ignore the fact that this is arguably among the worst crimes globally; in the name of some sort of opposition to censorship, is ridiculous
Worst crimes globally, worse than slavery, the Holocaust, the Armenian Genocide? What? Oh my God… You’re a user with a blue helmet UN avatar larping as though you are an authority who can demand things of a developer who is literally ignoring you with good reason no less.
“Client-Side Processing: Sites that require no login—where scripts and data are temporarily processed directly in the visitor’s browser or local device—minimize server-side data logs. By not retaining user history, these platforms often bypass liability for the content users generate locally.”
“User-Generated Moderation & Obscurity: Content moderation is often decentralized, relying on community reporting, private groups, or obscure sub-communities rather than a central team. By maintaining a low profile or operating as a directory of independently hosted sandboxes, they evade sweeping censorship.”
- Gemini AI
Child sexual exploitation is universally classified by international law and federal statutes as one of the most severe, non-negotiable violent crimes actively occurring today
The public comment sections and chatrooms are fundamentally server-side 😭🙏🏽💔
“Client-Side Processing: Sites that require no login—where scripts and data are temporarily processed directly in the visitor’s browser or local device—minimize server-side data logs. By not retaining user history, these platforms often bypass liability for the content users generate locally.”
If User A posts a link to illegal material, and User B (miles away) can see and click that link, that data must pass through and be hosted by Perchance’s servers to sync the chatroom. It is not “local.” Furthermore, federal criminal laws regarding child safety completely override standard civil liability exemptions. You cannot code your way out of a federal crime by claiming, “We don’t use logins.” If federal contraband is being distributed across your network infrastructure and you are notified, which they absolutely have been; you are exposed.
And the material is a mix of both what is generated, and literal real life child exploitation
There is a massive difference between “evading automated censorship” and “evading federal criminal prosecution.” Operating as a “decentralized sandbox” or keeping a “low profile” does not grant a platform a magical invisibility cloak against the law.

How the Law Sees It: Under established internet law, a platform is not required to prevent every single bad thing from happening in real-time. It is required to provide a mechanism for users to report abuse and a process to remove illegal content once they are made aware of it.
Good Samaritan Protections: Under Section 230, platforms are actually encouraged to use automated filters and community reporting. The law protects developers who make a “good faith” effort to moderate their platforms, even if some bad content occasionally slips through the automated cracks.
Nothing has been, that’s the issue. Someone literally leaked their trafficking profile on Telegram, on there; and absolutely nothing has been done. People still, actively distribute said materials and nothing has been done. “Not reporting everything” implies there’s been some for, of actual active effective moderation, where there has not
S-230 is nullified under both negligence and the distribution of CSM, I explained this in the prior thread
Chatrooms as one of the worst global crimes, that is wild. You know the website that you are using has no identification of its users, and creators of generators can choose to have chat if they want to which you can choose to join or not join. If you want to take action against Perchance you’re welcome to try.
This is some monumental level of ignorance 😭💔 Child sexual exploitation, the distribution of CSAM, and human trafficking; yes, are one of the highest crimes globally
There is absolutely nothing intellectually inconsistent about it And the creation of the specific gen in question, is the developer themself You could, at minimum, moderate the room or assign moderators so the issue can be avoided entirely
So, you expect a group of people to basically monitor chats for every particular generator on Perchance that codes in a comments panel? In addition to the AI moderation that is already present. That is impossible in real time. Literally impossible in real time. There is an automated system which is an effort, an attempt. But only so much can be done to manage anonymous users.
Yes, I expect basic HUMAN moderation considering the site is now an arguable high risk intermediary; I cannot stress this enough
This will legally come to screw the site later, so; it’s either moderate the damn official generators, or just pull the plug entirely
This platform allows users to generate pornographic content. Including for “underage users.” I hope everyone understands that the notice saying “you can only generate pornographic content if you give your word of honor that you’re 18 or older” is just a flimsy cover‑up. If a user visits a porn site (among other places), it’s only natural that they’ll see vulgar comments there.
As for your complaints — the site is basically being kept afloat by a single person. He’s also busy with work that brings in the money to fund the platform. He simply doesn’t have time to filter comments, he just doesn’t. Be grateful that the guy keeps the whole thing running at all.
Let’s just slap up a big sign that says “Adult site: leave if you’re under 18,” and that’s it. Of course, no one will actually leave, but at least formally, the responsibility will be offloaded.
He has posted this like at least two times already or perhaps more, the Dev rightfully is ignoring him, I would too. He claimed in one post that the website has no moderation at all and when I mentioned that people get IP banned and reported he tried to come up with excuses as to how that did not count as moderation.
“Internal moderation on this site is entirely absent and non-functional” ➡️ https://lemmy.world/post/49041435

You would ignore a complaint about a ring of distribution regarding illegal materials, and you fail to review my points, and you also are yet to address the inherent flaws with the “moderation” system
No, the issue isn’t pornographic material being spread to children, though that is absolutely a valid issue
The issue is, people are distributing actual child sexually exploitative materials in the chatroom itself
Another one who’s saving the world, all by themselfs. I agree with @lifeinmuptiplechoice with the last sentence. You shouldn’t be here. You should use your time, dragging whales back into the sea or something. Uh and don’t eat my meat. Go eat some Grass. Seriously. As i said in the other post… i’m a father of 3, and i know those people are around and will always be around. But knowing they have a platform where they can use AI created Trash instead of harming real Children, satisfys me to some degree. People like you, who are no active members of this comunity who just get up in the morning, to look for trouble, trying to restrict this entire project, which includes ALLof the users who didn’t even do anything is so morally wrong, it sickens me. Just, Fuck off.
Oh, and btw… Whatever CaseID you think you have in your dreamworld… This is not what NCMEC covers. So maybe do some research before posting shit.
Yes, okay And now tell me by any means how the presence of these people should indicate a halt in moderation If this is how logic worked, then there would be no need for legal intervention upon ANYTHING knowing these people never go away but it does indeed offer a punishment to those who even try to do anything illegal “It satisfies me that pedophiles can use AI to generate CSAM” Yeah nah, atp, shut up, there’s a reason why this shit is illegal nonetheless CSAM whether fictional or not still depicts a horrible crime and you shouldn’t be proud of mfs using the AI for this shit just because they just ain’t harming people
Also, who the fuck is looking for trouble? And why are you acting like restricting this content is a bad thing? Yes, my bad that we’re just trying to implement some moderation on a website that literally allows users to trade CSAM, i guess we should just stop asking for basic needs and just deal with the fact thousands of children end up getting abused because of the very lack of moderation on this website
i’m a father of 3, and i know those people are around and will always be around. But knowing they have a platform where they can use AI created Trash instead of harming real Children, satisfys me to some degree.
“as a father” oh my god??? first off, this shouldn’t be satisfying, and second off real ass kids ARE getting affected by this it’s not just people generating this shit, there’s people actively seeking out the real thing
People like you, who are no active members of this comunity who just get up in the morning, to look for trouble, trying to restrict this entire project,
dare I say restriction is a good thing? and this user IS an active member of the community, as are others fighting for this
which includes ALLof the users who didn’t even do anything is so morally wrong, it sickens me.
I feel like the sexual content child involving children should sicken you more, sir…

As I have repeteadly stated before, this involves both AI generated sexual images of children being raped, AND real children being harmed. I am an active member, in a sense that I constantly whistleblow to minors in the comment section and redirect them elsewhere until advised not too; you cannot genuinely be serious

Which is a good option but the OP doesn’t care about using an alternative, his whole focus is banning Perchance altogether. The Dev continues to ignore him. He is spam posting his message whilst all legitimate topics are being down voted mysteriously.
woops :p
I do, hence why we redirected all minors to another generator That is, besides the point
You really need to stop jerking back too “they’re trying to steal my ai!!!” This is a SERIOUS LEGAL RISK to the site, and ignoring it holds absolutely NO VALUE
I don’t want perchance to be shut down What I do want, is basic oversight and ensurance that this will at least be mitigated It is truly not much of an ask
You really need to stop jerking back too “they’re trying to steal my ai!!!”
I do not follow what you tell me to do. I can express myself in this forum without you telling me what I need to do.
I don’t want perchance to be shut down What I do want, is basic oversight and endurance that this will at least be mitigated It is truly not much of an ask
There is basic oversight, reports, bans, and moderation all exist. The website is full of chat rooms and cannot be 100% moderated, just like 4chan or VRchat cannot be 100% moderated and full proof. It is the reality of the World Wide Web. Users have to some extent protect themselves because anonymous chats are not digitally 100% moderated spaces in general . Moving to a more moderated chatroom is good as well.
Comparing a solo developer’s unmoderated hobby site to multi-million dollar corporations like 4chan or VRChat is legally and technically absurd 😭. 4chan and VRChat are not unmoderated. 4chan employs an aggressive, 24/7 global team of paid and volunteer moderators (janitors) who utilize sophisticated, automated digital fingerprint tracking (like PhotoDNA) to instantly scrub illegal material and block perpetrators the millisecond it hits their servers. VRChat employs massive automated tools, trust-and-safety teams, and an aggressive reporting system backed by parent company funding. Perchance has none of this infrastructure; and the flimsy “moderation” that is present, has an insurmountable level of INTERNATIONAL evidence regarding its ineffectiveness (17 literal police reports to be exact). There is a vast legal gap between a platform being “not 100% foolproof” and a platform being “willfully negligent.” Nobody is demanding the developer be a psychic who stops 100% of crimes before they happen. The issue is that Perchance’s “basic oversight” is purely performative and completely broken. If a bank installs a cardboard cutout of a security guard, they cannot claim “basic security exists” when they get robbed. The law requires reasonable and effective moderation once a systemic crisis is brought to the owner’s attention. Under federal statutes, a platform cannot throw its hands up and say “it’s the wild west, protect yourselves” when dealing with severe child exploitation.
It’s crazy that I’ve seen some of the most heinous things on 4chan. VRchat is one of the worst places for kids to this day and no good parents allow their kids on VRchat. That is freaking wild.
- The 4chan Myth: “Aggressive, 24/7 Global Paid Janitors”
The claim that 4chan has a “sophisticated, 24/7 global team of paid and volunteer moderators” keeping it clean is a massive stretch.
The Reality: 4chan’s moderation team (affectionately or derisively called “janitors”) consists almost entirely of unpaid volunteers. Their moderation style is notoriously hands-off, reactive, and localized to specific boards.
The Truth in the Claim: 4chan does use automated fingerprinting tools like PhotoDNA. However, they didn’t implement these out of corporate goodwill—they were legally backed into a corner after years of massive federal and international pressure regarding severe illegal material.
The Exaggeration: To do anything comparable as considering 4chan to be a multi-million dollar pristine corporation ignores its entire history. It is a textboard that has historically operated on a shoestring budget, relying heavily on ad networks that frequently drop them, and surviving on the absolute bare minimum of infrastructure required to avoid getting shut down by the government. - Gemini AI
- The VRChat Myth: “Massive, Flawless Automated Safety Teams”
The speaker frames VRChat as an iron-clad fortress of safety because of its corporate backing. Anyone who has spent an hour in a public VRChat lobby knows this isn’t true.
The Reality: VRChat is famous for its “Wild West” atmosphere. Because users can upload custom avatars and private worlds, it is incredibly difficult for automated tools to scan 3D assets for toxic, hateful, or inappropriate content in real-time.
The Exaggeration: While VRChat absolutely has a Trust & Safety team and a reporting system, a huge burden of the moderation is pushed onto the community (vote-kicking, private instances, and blocking). It is far from an automated, corporate-scrubbed paradise. - Gemini AI
“Not 100% Foolproof” Section 230 protects platforms from being sued for what their users post, provided the platform acts in good faith to remove illegal content when notified.
There are bans, reports, AI moderation, Creators of generators also exercise control over chatrooms, there is an effort in good faith to moderate the website within reason, a 24/7 human staff cannot be expected for Perchance, the same is true for many other websites that are in operation. If you want to sue somebody just do it, you complain about it, you make a lot of claims, yet the Dev is not intimidated by you.
IWontArgueAsAHumanGPT translating 🎉
4chan survives because it has automated hashing tools (PhotoDNA) that scrub known CSAM files at the server level before they load, alongside an established reporting pipe to law enforcement. VRChat has a multi-tiered reporting system, dedicated Trust & Safety staff, and automated logging 🤖
Section 230 has an absolute, explicit exemption for federal criminal law, specifically child exploitation. Under 47 U.S.C. § 230(e)(1), civil immunity completely vanishes when a federal crime is involved. You cannot claim “good faith immunity” under Section 230 for hosting CSAM 🤖
Furthermore, even under civil standards, “Good Faith” requires effective action. If a platform owner is handed active federal NCMEC case numbers showing that their anonymous chatrooms are being used by predators, and the owner responds by leaving the exact same broken, easily bypassed chat system running, that is the legal definition of “bad faith” and willful blindness 🤖
Shifting the blame to parents or individual generator creators is a legally meaningless defense. Parents are not the ones hosting a web server on the clear web; the developer of Perchance is, in essence 🤖
Yet, you’re still posting here on this Lemmy forum without any reply from the Dev who has previously replied to people on this forum and the subreddit when he feels the need to. So, whatever legal threats that you have been posing don’t seem to bother him at all. I reckon he feels fairly confident that he can respond effectively to any legal threats that you pose to the website. You’re here with your UN soldier avatar having legal arguments with actual users of the website that code generators and use it extensively. Yes, parents should take responsibility for their children’s internet activity, I don’t understand when that changed. It has always been that way since the inception of the internet, chat rooms, internet porn, forums and all that stuff. British law does not apply to everyone. It is no secret how Britain is slowly becoming a mirror of Communist China in terms of internet censorship.
It’s crazy how you’re literally trying to talk up two platforms with massive problems in an effort to denigrate Perchance and its Dev. There are literally whole videos about the scandals on VRchat and 4chan.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTY13VRbSuw
From the video transcript.
0:38 “VR Chat is definitely one of the worst games I have ever seen in terms of predators.”
Literal murderers are being inspired have been inspired on 4chan. Where is the Perchance murderer? What shooters are being radicalized to kill on Perchance?

“Packed full of racist and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories, memes, hoaxes and and in-jokes, his manifesto is also clearly influenced by the message board 4chan, one of the biggest and most controversial hubs of internet subculture. It is the birthplace of many famous online memes, harassment and trolling campaigns, as well as social, political and conspiratorial movements.”
“Gendron references a 4chan board devoted to guns, and says he was radicalised by the /pol/ or “politically incorrect” board. He also mentions other extreme online spaces he visited, including the neo-Nazi website The Daily Stormer.”
Thanks for that individual gen, but again; I’m asking it be removed from the public gen itself
I sort of agree to disagree here. While I DO agree that this is very serious and demands attention, removal of the comment section is NOT necessary whatsoever. There are other solutions out there besides that that would resolve this issue.
Patent 1: AI Guardrails or Removal of NSFW Content Altogether A guardrail or filter is put specifically into place on text-to-image generators on Perchance. It flags certain words that are logged and will outright refuse to generate any images based on the blacklisted words. The secondary solution is to remove NSFW content entirely and have a strict filter in place that makes the AI refuse to engage with or generate anything with NSFW content involved. Although this will piss a lot of people off who use Perchance precisely for this reason, it will nip this problem right in the bud.
Patent 2: More Powerful Moderation Tools Bans should not only affect the given IP but be a complete hardware ban (Hardware ID) that outright blocks ANY user from using the Perchance comment section altogether regardless if they use a VPN or IP changer. I know you’ll probably say “Oh but what if they just switch devices?!”
Yes, that is an issue I have analyzed for this specific solution, as yes, even with a powerful hardware ban, the violator can still use an entirely different device to bypass the ban, but it will be much harder to bypass than an IP ban, because with an IP ban, you can just pop on a VPN and BOOM, you can go back to what you’re doing. But if you’re hardware banned, you need an ENTIRELY different device to bypass. So if you just have one computer, one phone, TOO BAD, you stay banned.
But as a person who does not use the comment section on ANY Perchance generator (this is because they are always hidden by default), that does not mean this is not an issue that must be left unresolved. If anything, forget what I said, if it ACTUALLY needs to be done, then just have the entirety of the comment section disabled forever. I don’t even use the comment section on Perchance, so this does not affect me whatsoever, nor will it affect anyone else like me who uses Perchance. I’ll be happy to hear your criticisms of my solutions, I’m not against you.
This response actually works out quite well, how would we mitigate the risk of further distribution though?

Nevermind
Delete that shit on the gen I was complaining about
