Liquid Glass. Windows 11. This post could apply to so many UI “improvements”.
There is nothing wrong with new firefox looks? I haven’t encountered any problems.
round fields and this purple/orange theme looks like every shady vibe coded ai tool ever
It looks fine, if you don’t like it theme can be changed.
The previous amount of rounding made the tabs look like tabs. The new version just looks like buttons.
There’s a setting to change it back (for now, at least), but they should make it a part of the themes.
Edit: Link to post I made about the setting when I first got the update: https://lemmy.world/post/52518206
Sausages of various size pretending to be tabs and buttons
The highlighted tab looks like a input text field in dark mode, it drives me nuts.

Ahhh I was wondering how exactly it felt off, that! Thank you for putting it into words!
There was nothing wrong with the old look either. The change should bring something positive to the mix, not “it was ok but now it’s also ok”. It’s a waste of energy if anything.
I can have a boykisser on my URL bar now, so that’s neat.
Could you not before? (I haven’t cared about themes since before XUL stopped being a thing, so I don’t know.)
Maybe with an extension. Not straight out of the box.
Boykisser
Not straight out of the box
That’s how it works, lol.
Seriously bitching FF must be the favourite sport of the FOSS community. Whatever they do people complain. You can just switch off the new design if you hate it. Or move to a fork. Or create yours. Or just fucking use Chrome because round corners.
I love the new design it fits in great with Ubuntu Gnome.
Curved UI elements are the devil.
Down with Bouba Firefox! Demand the return of Kiki Firefox!
I honestly haven’t had any issues with any of the changes. Other than the new tab grouping or whatever that is meant to be
People like you are the reason I was afraid to go to school as a child.
I don’t get the joke. Why would you be afraid?
I don’t even use tab groups, I rarely have more than three open. I hadn’t even noticed the rounding until this post. I think I use the internet very differently to some people here.
My issue I’m finding, is that some of my tabs are magically grouping, an I have no idea why its even happening. I just notice a line under them
You can group tabs by dragging them on top of each other. Maybe you’re doing that accidentally?
The behavior for that seems slightly different. It’s possible it was a bug that was already fixed too (or buggy extension even). but, I did originally think that. It’s not a big deal, and only noticed it recently.
Disable tab grouping in settings if you don’t use it and it gets in the way.
Yeah. I plan to. Might be better already anyway
They’re good for the tabs you pretend you’ll ever get back to
That’s what bookmarks are for.
at least once a year, I will try to clean up my bookmarks. I still have thousands to go through from 15 years of browsing the internet lol. (yeah I’m a “young” fellow compared to some here)
idk why I think it was needed to save to bookmarks the 300+ tabs of right clicking interesting articles while diving TVTropes back then, and I still have not deleted those 600+ bookmarks.
You know I had that same (valid) attitude until in business everything got changed to be a webapp.
But some things are not good enough for bookmarks
Then they’re banished forever. I’m a “clean slate every day” type person. Digital mise en place, clean as you go. Marie Kondo that shit.
Yeah I’m usually on the hate train for stuff like this and I have no problem with the newest redesign. Been using since pre-quantum update too.
I haven’t really paid much attention to the UI changes, but now that I do look at it I kinda like the round “tabs” because the active one stands out more than it used to (in dark mode, BTW).
Still inferior to way back when they looked ‘attached’ to the browser viewport, like physical manila folder tabs, of course.

I wish to know more
Pretty much all I know is off of this thread:
It would be actually funny if this is real. Please be real.
Well, the message is real, and I don’t think the pilot was joking.

During non-testing hours or weekends, manned flights may sometimes be cleared through, but usually only at extreme altitudes (24,000 feet or higher) and only after being coordinated through local ATC and range control.
Librewolf ain’t bad. I’m typing this from it right now. I don’t think it’s sustainable long-term as their dev team is small and it’s only a matter of time before Mozilla does something to intentionally fuck up their downstream. But for now it’s nice.
matter of time before Mozilla does something to intentionally fuck up their downstream
Why so? I don’t think it’s in Mozilla’s interest.
Besides, Mozilla already tried that with shutting Librefox, and they simply rebranded it to Librewolf and kept going for over 5 years now.
Librewolf devs seem very comitted to the project too.
No Android version for mobile devices 😭🤖📱
There is a flag in about:config to turn off the super round corners.
Its called:
use:nova:renderer
or smth like that.
This will be removed in a couple versions and you will be forced to use the garbage design and like it.
browser.nova.enabled
I think it’s fine but I understand that some people don’t like it. Good thing is that you can use the style you prefer.
ULTRA VIEW!!

Literally every app these day will be like
adding a chatbot at the bottom of the screen
Here’s our new and updated UI.
Corner radius will increase until morale improves
Jokes aside, I’m actually using the new Firefox design. Not much of a fan of the excessive roundness, but it brought back a feature I totally missed for years: Compact layout, you can pick it in the settings an get very tight tab and address bars and menus, it gets rid of a lot of the padding.
I dunno. I got the new interface and like…it’s aggressively meh?
Nothing amazing, nothing terrible. Y’all are starting to sound like late-10s Facebook grandmas.
“But it looks like vibe code!” Yeah, and in the 90s everything looked like Windows, and in the early-00s everything was skeuomorphic, and in the mid-10s everything was flat design. This is an unfortunate design trend, but they’re all unfortunate.
“But rounded corners!” …so? I mean, honestly, I can’t think of a single logical objective problem with them. I don’t like them much either, but I don’t have any actual criticism of them.
As far as I can tell, the only reasonable objection is that they aren’t super great for colorblind folks. That’s real and should absolutely be fixed. But beyond that…
The default stupid ass gradient colors literally hurt my eyes. Not exactly great for a software you’ll be staring at for hours, is it? Defaults should be unassuming. Why do I need to install random themes just so I could use a stupid browser without hurting my eyeballs? I don’t really care about the corners even if I think they look stupid too. It’s everything else. It’s just bad, not to mention fucking pointless.
Just a week ago, my computer was perfectly fine for daily internet usage, now that they modernised the UI and i updated UI sometimes lags behind in firefox. It has slightly worse performance than before, i used to use x201, firefox got stuttery with some forums i used(no stutters with chromium, just ff) and i updated to x230. Now this one has visible lagging as well, ff doesn’t provide any improvements over chromium, i just use it out of stubbornnes yet it just keeps getting worse and i have to compremise more to use it. I am always around the bottom border of performance, ff is always the reason i have to upgrade but i don’t have a laptop i want to uprade to. Now i am on the lookout for some new browser even thought i don’t wanna.
You can disable the new ui. Go to about:config and set “browser.nova.enabled” to false. Not sure if it’ll fix the lagging tho since it might be caused by something else that came with the update.
