Finally got around to read The Capital again and it’s dense.
And I can understand why beginners shouldn’t read at the first book. When Marx introduces the Elementary form of value, he ramps up the use of the concepts of quantity and quality.
But the book is worth it. Like, a lot of “Marx didn’t think of X” gets addressed a few pages in.

Like an information nuke kind of dense. I wouldn’t have gone past a few pages without reading LWC and VPP first.

Marx couldn’t predict AI and unemployment crisis -> Machinery and Modern Industry
Marx couldn’t predict NFTs and Stocks -> fictitious capital.
(I didn’t get to this part yet, but I bet it’s relevant)
Still on Losurdo’s Stalin book, I’m slowly trying to get the reading habit back into my life after being extremely busy the past few weeks.
I am currently reading “Cuba and the Independence War in Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde” which is centered around Víctor Dreke. A couple of moments question the editor but its an interesting read about the last colonial empire (Portugal) in Africa and Cuba’s role in supporting independence.
Began Parenti’s Inventing Reality last week and this week I started finnbol’s narration of Engel’s The Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State. I’m also part way through Let the Right One In by Lindqvist (fiction)

Since the post mentions academic, I’m making my way through Metaphysics (2017) A Contemporary Introduction. I have been throwing around metaphysical terminology with a sneaking suspicion that I don’t really know what I’m talking about.
The book covers: the problem of universals, the nature of abstract entities, the problem of individuation, the nature of modality, identity through time, the nature of time, the nature of parts and wholes, the problem of metaphysical indeterminacy, and the realism-anti-realism debate.
