They were at 20 dollars a share 2 years ago, so, like, still a 3x increase in value since then. Just, dumping all the “Unga bunga! Datacenter carpeting planet!” Over hype valuation

One of the unspoken secrets of the Great Depression. The rich guys still only got richer, even as unemployment skyrocketed and public amenities were gutted.

The worst years for Wall Street were between the 1940s and 1960s, when the public sector surged and Americans saw the biggest increases in quality of life.

Well, if the real problem is RAM price, and I’m not convinced it is, more fabs are due to come online late next year. Ram and disk prices will come down eventually. Might be a year or two.

I’d be more worried that AMD is eating their lunch and will start on their dinner and breakfast before the prices drop again.

It’s hilarious that a lot of leftist think it’s actual money that was lost. The value will go back up in a few days. It’s actually a good time to buy a lot of AI or tech stocks now because you’ll get a major discount.

In fact, some mad lads probably made a killing shorting many of these stocks when financial reports hit investors and they panicked.

It’s only real money after it’s sold.

Until it’s sold it’s just “unrealized gains” or “unrealized losses”.

It kind of is real money. A lot of these stocks are tied to peoples retirements. People do invest in these things because they are told to and its a good idea, which it is. I think trump started giving kids stocks as a way to prop up the ai economy even more.

Like I get what you mean but it still is real money some where lol. You can be right on some fundamental but also come off as ignorant. To do what you suggest with shorts would mean I would have to get a lot more involved, and my incentives start getting mixed up. Instead of feeling joy when I see stocks to down I start to worry because now I have to use my brain and try to figure out if I bail now accept my loss, or try to use some “insider knowledge” I’ve gleamed from polymarket or whatever and start gambling my money against people who are rigging the money at a scale that I can’t even imagine. I would have to spend all day reading articles and listening to news and buying 10k courses from the PBD podcast, when private equity runs the stock market with ai and makes grand sweeping decisions that wipe you out in a instant.

Over time my opinions are going to become warped because I don’t see the world as how it should be, and how it needs to be for me to keep making money as a leech. Suddenly I start viewing Palestinians as terrorist because I’m invested in a company that’s making automated turrets to clear way for the trump hotel in Gaza. The alternative is I get a real job and become a normal human being not tied into a death cult.

Maybe i was going to short openai a year ago, and then all sudden they so something I would of never even imagined like buying out all the worlds stock of ram, and their stock goes up 500%. That’s gambling and they’re just using your own greed against you.

A factory accident in Israel has shut production long enough to dent server chip shipments, while soaring memory prices are squeezing PC demand. The 28.6% drop erased about $140 billion in value and triggered a wave of downgrades. The stock is still up sharply for 2026, but has now given back about half its value since its June peak.

Intel stock is up over 200% over the last 2 years (even with this 29% drop) so it’s way too early to say it’s popped.

The fun thing about percentages though: you can have a 10,000% gain, but a 100% drop is an instant wipeout. So a 29% drop can still be more significant than what the value was two years ago.

I agree that Intel is overvalued. My point is that you need to zoom out to get a better picture. And a stock that’s up 200% over 2 years is doing really well. It’s funny because your point about percentages was reflected this morning, Intel has slid another 6% so now it’s only up 175% over the past 2 years.

Yeah it came right down to <$20 at one point. I bought a fair bit in 2025 when it first did, and sold most of it at $100. So you know, I’d not mind if it came back down again to repeat the exercise. Although when I got it 2 years ago, I thought “Not even Trump would let Intel fail” and to be fair, he did authorise a cash boost.

I am not completely sure that would be true again. I’d probably still take the punt at $20 again though.

This is a weird one though, because they’ve not even been the biggest name behind AI by anyone’s estimation. Why they took the biggest hit goes beyond AI I think.

According to this random website I found (at least it has sources) intel still makes 22% of it’s revenue from consumer hardware. So the ram companies making consumer hardware more expensive (or just droping it entirely like micron did) harms intel a lot more than it harms the ram companies.

Edit: The 22% also includes computers sold to businesses but not data centres

Yeah, I mean ultimately if I knew the future I could have sold it all at $140 or so. But you don’t really ever know what is happening tomorrow. So ultimately, if you made some return, it’s always good.
