The lurker shark from Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy that’s there to keep you from swimming out too far. Absolutely fucking terrified me, and I think it even vibrates the DualShock 2.

This fucking guy haunted my nightmares for quite a long time. Haven’t seen the movie since then though, maybe it’s not that bad

Ok let me get my glasses:

    • Ghostbusters 2 (the painting), IT (it), Candyman (BEES), Arachnophobia (guess), Tales from the Cryptkeeper (a tale about a lake blob), Never Ending Stoooreey (G’mork, Poor poor Atreyu), Superman (being buried alive)…

    …And many more.

Ditto Tales from the Crypt, except for me it was just The Cryptkeeper himself. I don’t remember any of the specific stories; my cousin and I would watch them when we were 5-6 years old. We weren’t old enough to even understand what was happening, but I definitely remember the skeleton announcer being really scary.

I didn’t watch the show again until about 25 years later, and was surprised to find that the skeleton announcer was actually supposed to be funny. :D

The thing about Ghostlbuster II that got me the most was Janosz in spectral form flying in with a carriage and stealing the baby.

Poltergeist, no question, slept with the lights on for 2-weeks behind that shit.

My neighbor friend’s dad took me and her the day before 5th-grade started. That man levitated out his seat when that giant skull leaned out of the closet. My little brain: “oh shit oh shit oh shit the adult is scared…” To his credit, the movie was PG because PG-13 didn’t exist in 1982. But still, c’mon Dave!

Didn’t sleep, couldn’t eat the cafeteria slop, it was 105F, heat stroked out in the hall crawling back from lunch recess. It was a very memorable day.

Oh yeah my answer is poltergeist too. Too early, sucked. Bad sleep for weeks.

Also return to Oz. Those heads…

I’m not 100% what movie I saw as I was very young at the time. It may have been The legend of Boggy Creek. Basically a bigfoot horror. I grew up in the countryside beside a forest: It traumatised me against being outside at night.

War of the worlds. I was probably much too young to be watching it but that gave me a fear of aliens for several years.

The vinyl recording of it with that freaky ass artwork was a one-two punch of horror

I was too terrified to watch Killer Klowns from Outer Space on VHS growing up. Picking out a movie I would always quickly skip over it and try not to look for too long. The first time I watched it in my 20s I was laughing my ass off at both the movie and the fact that I had made it that far in life thinking it was really scary.

Same goes for the book Slaughterhouse Five. It must have had some pop culture inertia if they made at least five of them.

That fucking computer from Superman III, jesus christ my parents should not have let me watch that when I was, like, seven or eight.

The scene in Tremors when the car is getting pulled underground really got me. I was way too young to be watching that movie. Love it now though.

    Watership Down

Was fucked up for a child to watch. My parents thought it was going to be a harmless animated movie for children. I watched it again as an adult. It is still fucked up.
